Course Description:

This course is an introduction to economic theory and analysis with an emphasis on basic economic concepts, national income determination and fluctuations, unemployment, inflation, economic growth, the role of money and banking and monetary theory, and the economic role of government. Current economic issues are also discussed in the context of a global economy.

Prerequisite(s):

Eng 50 - Basic Writing Skills and Math 57 - College Arithmetic

Bradley Schiller, The Economy Today, 8^th ed., McGraw Hill, 2000.

Note: You may either obtain the hardcover combined edition of the book which covers both ECON 1and ECON 2 or you may obtain the split edition The Macro Economy Today for ECON 1 and The Micro Economy Today for ECON 2.
