Course Description:

This course is an introduction to economic theory and analysis with an emphasis on the features of a market economy, role and behavior of consumers, businesses, owners of resources, government and the international sector. Efficiencies and deficiencies of a market system are explored and the role of government intervention is discussed.

Prerequisite(s):

Eng 50 - Basic Writing Skills and Math 57 - College Arithmetic

Bradley Schiller, The Economy Today, 8^th ed., McGraw Hill, 2000.

Note: You may either obtain the hardcover combined edition of the book which covers both ECON 1and ECON 2 or you may obtain the split edition The Macro Economy Today for ECON 1 and The Micro Economy Today for ECON 2.
